This popular House Sparrow workshop has been described as magical, even like Christmas morning. After some time spent in the House Sparrow studio learning basic resist-dye techniques, the class moves outdoors to the dye garden. A vat of natural indigo becomes dozens of unique textile creations, no two alike and each as beautiful as it is mysterious.
Each participant in the Indigo Shibori Workshop can choose three of these items to dye in class:
*Flour sack kitchen towels, set of 4
*Fabric, Kona cotton, 1 yard cut into 4 fat quarters
*Cotton pillowcases, set of 2
*Cotton hobo bag
*Cotton throw pillow cases, set of 2
Each participant is welcome to bring a piece of two in cotton, linen, or silk (no synthetic fibers) from home for this workshop, anything under 3 total yards of less.
Note that part of this workshop takes place outside (sunscreen and insect repellent will be on hand but feel free to bring your own) and that access to the House Sparrow home studio is by stairs only. Light refreshments will be provided
For teens and adults.
This workshop is part of the Handmade Color Series, a group of workshops focused on adding color by hand and with plants to fabric and garments.
