This popular House Sparrow workshop has been described as magical, even like Christmas morning. After some time spent learning the basics about plant dyes, bundle-dyeing, and eco-printing techniques, the class sets to work with a bundle of textiles and a riot of leaves and flowers. These plants transform into dozens of unique textile creations, no two alike and each as beautiful as it is mysterious.
Each participant in this workshop can choose three of these items to dye in class:
*Flour sack kitchen towels, set of 4
*Fabric, Kona cotton, 1 yard cut into 4 fat quarters
*Cotton pillowcases, set of 2
*Cotton hobo bag
*Cotton throw pillow cases, set of 2
Note that part of this workshop takes place outside (sunscreen and insect repellent will be on hand but feel free to bring your own) and that access to the House Sparrow home studio is by stairs only. Light refreshments will be provided.
For teens and adults.
This workshop is part of the Handmade Color Series, a group of workshops focused on adding color by hand and with plants to fabric and garments.
