“Natasha was a wonderful host and teacher for our weaving class. The selection of weaving yarn was to die for, and she made the process so easy and fun! ”
In this three-hour workshop by Oklahoma textile maker Natasha Ball of House Sparrow Fine Nesting, set in the beautiful Owl & Drum on Cherry Street in Tulsa, students can choose between an intro-to-weaving and intermediate-weaving track.
Intro to Weaving students will learn weaving basics and four techniques as you create a one-of-a-kind tapestry.
Intermediate weavers will build on basic knowledge of woven tapestry. We will spend the morning working through techniques such as weaving with shapes, loops and pile, new stitch patterns, and finishing techniques. The intermediate-weaving track is for those who have take my introductory class, or anyone who has accomplished basic weaving on a lap loom.
Workshop attendees walk away with the materials to complete one hand-woven wall hanging, complete with hanging kit and an instruction booklet. I will have additional weaver packs of yarn available for purchase during class, and each will feature handspun, handdyed yarns by Natasha as well as local yarns and fibers.
For ages 14 and older.
