MACRAME WORKSHOP, 6/16: Hanging Planter at West Elm Tulsa

  • West Elm Tulsa 1926 Utica Square Tulsa, OK, 74114 United States (map)

In this two-hour workshop taught by Oklahoma fiber artist Natasha Ball, you will learn how to create one of the hottest home-and-garden trends of 2016: a handmade macrame hanging planter.

We will cover basic macrame terms and techniques, including how to customize your hanger for any planter, how to decorate your hanger with knots and fringe, and how to hang your final piece. We will also cover the myriad other ways you can use macrame techniques for decor for your home and for your own relaxation and well-being. Class will end early enough so that students can enjoy the free Summer's Fifth Night concert scheduled for Utica Square that evening.

Students will leave the workshop with one completed plant hanger, complete with small glass planter, and a take-home DIY instruction booklet. I will have additional hanging-planter kits available for purchase during class, and students get 15 percent off. West Elm will have plenty of air plants and succulents in stock, perfect for your new hanger.

Wine and light refreshments provided. Good idea: Wear comfortable shoes.
