In this two-hour workshop by Oklahoma textile maker Natasha Ball, set in the beautiful Prairie House studios and workshop in downtown Sapulpa (20 minutes from midtown Tulsa), kids in grades 2-8 will learn the basics of woven tapestry and create a woven wall hanging. We will spend the afternoon working through basic weaving terms and techniques, including how prepare your final piece for hanging. We will also discuss how to use weaving for relaxation, learning (math, chemistry, and art, oh my—and without even realizing that you're "learning"!) and blowing off steam.
(Is your kiddo age 14 or older? Check out my 3-hour Intro to Weaving courses.)
Kids will leave the workshop with one completed hand-woven wall hanging, complete with hanging kit. I will have additional weaver packs of yarn available for purchase during class; each will feature handspun, handdyed yarns by Natasha as well as local yarns and fibers, and students get 15 percent off. For kids in grades 2-8 (age 8-13).
